Bridge to the Ancestors Youth Walk
March 24,2023 – April 1, 2023
Join us on our walk against extractive industries.
The Carrizo Comecrudo Tribe of Texas is hosting a youth-led walk from the Permian Basin to Boca Chica on the Gulf Coast. Over eight days, “Bridge to the Ancestors” will follow a path through our lands, what we call Somi’ Sek. We will honor sacred sites, bring awareness to the destruction of our lands from extractive industries, and connect with adversely affected in-path communities to share tribal history and stories with youth from our Elders.
This walk is a revolutionary act of remembrance and bold statement of the connection original people have to the land in what is known today as Texas. The Carrizo Comecrudo Tribe of Texas is here and will continue, as our ancestral history passes from our ancestors, through our Elders, and to our youth and
future generations.
